Forks of the Delaware Chapter No. 14

Chapter 14 of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology, the Forks of the Delaware Chapter, unites avocational and professional archaeologists interested in the archaeology of east-central Pennsylvania and adjacent portions of New Jersey. We hold monthly meetings on the first Thursday of each month from September through June (no meetings in July and August). Meetings are held at the Palmer Township Memorial Library, Palmer Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania (directions listed below.) Meetings include information and discussions about regional archaeology, field work opportunities, and a program presentation of recent archaeological research or related topic. The Chapter also conducts field trips to excavations, museums, and other events of interest. All interested persons are welcome to attend.

MEETING

Chapter 14 Meeting will be on Thursday the 4th at 7.00pm at the Palmer Township Library Building. 

This meeting will be Eric Keaton, He will be speaking about the mastodon tusks found by him in the Walkill River, Orange County, New York.   This will be a exciting meeting to learn about how this young man found such a great find.  Please let guest and friends know.

Local artifacts found from the area are being displayed at the Charles Chrin Community Center of
Palmer Township.  Feel free to take a look at your area's past. 

Please let members know if you think they do not have email.  I will mail out meeting announcements early so they get the changes. Keep in mind to let Gary Weiland know of any updates on contact information and email addresses. Also update your dues with the SPA and Chapter 14.

Chapter membership -  Membership dues are now being accepted for 2010. If you have any questions, please contact either Gary Weiland or Philip Perazio. Dues are $5.00 for individuals or families. Dues may be paid to the Chapter Treasurer at the meeting or they may be sent to - Gary Weiland, 4159 Wilson Avenue, Bethlehem, PA 18020

DIRECTIONS TO PALMER TOWNSHIP MEMORIAL LIBRARY

  • Take US 22 to PA 33 / Pocono Mountains, take PA 33 north. 
  • Go to the second exit off of PA 33, the exit for PA 248, Nazareth / Wilson. 
  • Take PA 248 south or east toward Wilson. 
  • You will pass a large shopping complex on your left. Go about a mile to the traffic light at the top of the hill. 
  • Turn right at the light onto Newburg Road. 
  • Go a short distance and on your left you will see a green illuminated sign for the Palmer Township Municipal Complex. 
  • Go around the circle to the library.
